Birdsong

The Featured Garden event at the home of Susan and Frank Oddo has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 2.
The Oddos invite fellow SDHS members to Birdsong, their beautiful Elfin Forest garden.

At Birdsong, located near Escondido, the Oddo’s have created an artistically designed environment using a plant palette of shade trees, shrubs, succulents, cactus, palms, yuccas, cycads, Mediterranean plants, bromeliad and tillandsias. In the many outdoor rooms, you will find tranquil seating areas and a variety of whimsical works of art. Set on three fully landscaped acres, the garden also includes a large koi natural, self-sustaining pond, vegetable garden and the roadster from the SDHS exhibit at the 2011 County Fair. Over 80 species of birds have been found on the property since the Oddo’s began development in 1980.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the wide variety of settings and the views. Drinks and sweets will be provided. Some free cuttings will be available.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! To sign up to staff the check-in table or assist with the refreshment area, please email volunteer@sdhort.org. We need four volunteers willing to do a two-hour shift.

This event is free but prior registration is required.

  • Carpooling recommended
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes for walking
  • Handicapped access to the garden is limited
  • Address and Google Map link are included in the registration confirmation email
